Tour Description

DAY 1

Our adventure begins bright and early as we depart from your Cusco hotel, heading towards the charming Andean village of Paucartambo. This town, located 68 miles from Cusco, sits at an elevation of 2,906 meters above sea level.

Nestled between the regions of Cusco and Madre de Dios, the Manu National Reserve was established in 1963 as a protected area. The Manu jungle is divided into three significant zones: the cultural zone, the reserved zone, and the restricted use zone. The latter is the most safeguarded, primarily reserved for scientific research and biological studies.

Our journey continues as we descend towards the Cloud Forest, with a stop for a delicious lunch. Here, you'll notice a change in climate, becoming warmer and surrounded by lush vegetation.

After soaking in breathtaking landscapes, we'll arrive at a lodge located within the cultural zone of Manu, at 1,700 meters above sea level. Here, you'll enjoy a well-deserved rest and a delightful dinner, which is included.

If you wish, you can explore the area by walking along the trails surrounding the lodge, accompanied by a professional guide.

DAY 2

We rise early to seek out the renowned Andean Cock of the Rock, recognized as the national bird of Peru. After this extraordinary experience, we'll return to the lodge for breakfast before continuing on to the town of Pilcopata.

Here, you'll have the opportunity to embark on an optional activity: rafting on the Koñeq or Alto Madre de Dios rivers. This thrilling adventure lasts about an hour and a half, offering class I and II rapids for a dose of adrenaline.

Our journey then takes us to the port of Atalaya, located at 700 meters above sea level, where we'll board a boat and travel downriver to our next lodge. Along the way, you'll be captivated by the unique and stunning flora and fauna, including a variety of bird species such as herons and vultures.

We can enjoy a pleasant walk around the lodge to appreciate the splendor of the Peruvian jungle. At night, there's an opportunity for a walk to discover the wild nightlife, observing insects and amphibians.

The rustic lodge features a 15-kilometer network of trails, which you can explore with a professional guide. All meals are included for this day.

DAY 3

On this final day in Manu, we embark on a boat excursion to the Collpa, a riverside clay lick where numerous bird species gather every morning to consume the clay as part of their diet.

The Biosphere Reserve of Manu boasts remarkable biodiversity, home to the world's richest variety of fauna. You'll have the chance to witness wildlife in their natural environment, including endangered species like the giant otter and black caiman.

This extraordinary national reserve features diverse ecosystems, with mountainous regions reaching elevations of 4,000 meters above sea level, extending into the lower areas of the Amazon basin.

After our exploration, we'll return to the lodge and take the boat back to the port of Atalaya. From there, our transportation will convey us back to the city of Cusco. Breakfast at the lodge and lunch on the journey to Cusco are included.
