Sacred Valley of the Incas: Via Ferrata + Canopy + Box Lunch
DAY 3. Start your day with breakfast at the hotel. This full-day Sacred Valley tour begins early as we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to travel to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, connecting the towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo. After a 1.5-hour journey, we arrive at our base in Pachar, 33 miles from the city.
After equipping all safety gear, we will ascend the Via Ferrata Sacred Valley, which consists of iron rungs embedded in the rocks. Alternatively, you can take the zip line path.
Following an hour on the Via Ferrata, you'll reach a suspension bridge leading to the tour's highest point, where you'll enjoy a box lunch.
Afterward, we'll descend through the Sacred Valley zip line, adding more excitement to this amazing tour, featuring lines up to 700 meters long and shorter ones of 250 meters.
At the conclusion of this exhilarating experience, we'll return to the base in Pachar and then transport you back to your hotel in Cusco.
Machu Picchu
DAY 4. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. In the early morning, a tour bus will collect you from your Cusco hotel to head to the Ollantaytambo train station. From there, you'll journey to Aguas Calientes train station. Upon arrival, we'll board a bus to the magnificent Machu Picchu Citadel, famously known as The Lost City of the Incas. The 2-hour guided tour allows you to explore this remarkable archaeological site and its breathtaking landscapes.
Machu Picchu, a World Heritage Site, was a central agricultural hub and a vital urban area of the Incan Empire. Enjoy your free time exploring Machu Picchu, taking photos, or daring to climb Huayna Picchu (optional) to admire the entire citadel. You also have the option to return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (optional).
At the designated time, head back to the Aguas Calientes train station for your return to Cusco City. First, you'll arrive at the Ollantaytambo train station, where you'll transfer to shared transport to your Cusco hotel.
Cusco
DAY 5. Breakfast at your hotel. Enjoy a free day for personal activities and recharge for the Vinicunca adventure. Overnight at the hotel.
Mountain of 7 Colors - Vinicunca
DAY 6. After breakfast at the hotel, we will collect you from your Cusco hotel for a 3.5-hour drive through stunning landscapes of wild desert, snowcapped peaks, and alpaca herds. Upon reaching the trailhead at Chillihuani, at 4200m/13,900 ft, we will enjoy a hot breakfast before beginning the hike.
The approximately 4-hour uphill trek leads to the celebrated Rainbow Mountains or Vinicunca. Along the way, you'll witness breathtaking views of the Andes, glacial peaks, red mountains, rocky hills, and traditional llamas and alpacas grazing. As you reach the mountain summit, you might spot some Andean wildlife.
Vicuñas, akin to the Andean camel, roam here, the only place in Cusco where they're seen in the wild. Related to llamas but smaller, they sport the world's priciest wool. At the Rainbow Mountain's peak, you'll have ample time for photos and to admire the majestic area views. The surrounding red mountains offer stunning vistas of the valleys and the Ausangate Glacier Peak nearby. Ausangate, at nearly 21,000 ft, is Cusco's tallest mountain and part of the Cordillera Vilcanota Range.
While marveling at the vibrant mountain views, our staff will serve hot drinks and share insights about these mountains' colorful striations. After capturing some amazing photos and soaking in the scenery (perhaps even spotting condors), we'll begin our 2-hour downhill descent. Meeting our trekking chef, we'll enjoy a delicious, freshly prepared hot lunch.
After lunch, you can visit local family homes to experience the lifestyle of people who maintain traditional Incan practices. They still speak Quechua, practice earth-based religion and agriculture, honor mountain spirits and the sun for successful crops and herds, and weave textiles found in museums throughout Peru.
Following our interactions with locals, we'll start the return journey to Chillihuani village to catch our shared transport back to Cusco, arriving around 6 pm, where we'll drop you off at your hotel.
Departure from Cusco
