Abra Malaga Birdwatching From Ollantaytambo

Next, our journey will take us to the breathtaking Abra Panticalla, where we will continue our birdwatching adventure in a stunning high Andean landscape. At an elevation of 4,316 meters above sea level, the Abra Málaga Pass is a haven for nature lovers and bird conservation enthusiasts.

Throughout the day, you'll have the chance to observe an incredible variety of birds, including the Inca Wren, Unstreaked Tit-tyrant, Cuzco Brushfinch, Rusty-fronted Canastero, Marcapata Spinetail, Creamy-crested Spinetail, Urubamba Antpitta, Red-and-white Antpitta, Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan, and the Junin Canastero.

We will visit the delightful dwarf forest of Canchaylloq, home to intriguing mixed flocks, and then venture into the enigmatic cloud forest of San Luis for additional birdwatching. Here, we will enjoy a delightful picnic lunch amidst pristine nature.

The array of bird species is remarkable. Other species you might spot during the birding tour include Diademed Tapaculo, White-rumped Hawk, Barred Fruiteater, and Sword-billed Hummingbird.
