The Cusco mountain biking tour commences with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in the city, setting off towards the starting point of this exhilarating biking journey. You'll arrive at the Fortaleza Colonial Aqueduct, nestled in the community of Tica Huerta – Huarahuaylla, on the route connecting the districts of Poroy and Chinchero, situated at an elevation of 3890 meters above sea level.
This stunning site features a Roman-style stone wall complete with four windows and a main arch, remarkably well-preserved. Constructed in 1570, the aqueduct has been recognized as a Cultural Heritage site. It served as a crucial water source for the city during the Inca Empire.
From this point, you'll start your biking adventure heading towards Apukunaq Tianan, or the Abode of the Gods, located nearby the aqueducts. This area boasts a series of stone sculptures depicting deities and figures from the Inca culture, including representations of the Puma and Pachamama, the latter symbolizing Mother Earth.
Following a downhill trail, you'll pass through several traditional districts such as Tica Tica, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Sacsayhuamán. Additionally, you'll enjoy cycling through neighborhoods like San Benito, Picchu, and Independencia, until you reach the Pachacutec roundabout.
At this juncture, the first circuit concludes. Our transportation will then take you to the second starting point located in the community of Huayllarcocha. Here, you'll visit a local farm to marvel at the incredible fauna including llamas and alpacas.
Subsequently, you'll embark on another bike ride, following a downhill path that passes close to Sacsayhuaman, before arriving in the district of San Cristobal, where you will be treated to breathtaking views of the city.
