Descripción del Tour:
Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco for an exciting journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Our first destination is the charming town of Chinchero, located just 17 miles from Cusco.
In Chinchero, you'll have the opportunity to visit a local workshop and witness the ancient techniques used to create stunning textiles. Every Sunday, the vibrant Chinchero market comes to life, offering a diverse selection of handcrafted items and clothing.
Next, we will explore the Maras salt mines, set on an open hillside in the Urubamba Valley. The salt pans of Maras are a remarkable creation of the Incas, featuring a process where a subterranean stream brings saltwater to the surface. This water is channeled into a complex network of small channels, allowing it to flow gradually into numerous ancient salt ponds. As the water evaporates under the sun, salt is left behind.
Following our visit to the Maras salt mines, we will proceed to the Moray ruins. This site consists of three amphitheater-like structures believed to have been used by the Incas as an agricultural laboratory. These impressive circular terraces descend to a depth of about 30 meters (98 feet) and resemble an ancient Greek theater.
The Sacred Valley of the Incas is renowned for its fertile lands, ideal for agriculture, and its fascinating archaeological sites. This region offers a glimpse into the life of the Inca Empire and their advanced construction techniques.
At the conclusion of our tour, we will return to Cusco and drop you off at your hotel.
