This archaeological site encompasses a vast area with 12 remarkable terraces, primarily dedicated to the water cult. The irrigation system here is particularly impressive, as it remains operational, continuing to irrigate crops even today. Notably, the Inca Trail is part of this site, which spans 240 hectares at an average elevation of 3,316 meters above sea level.
Our next destination is the Pikillacta ruins, a significant pre-Inca urban center and a crucial site for the development of the Huari culture between the 6th and 9th centuries. Pikillaqta is located at an altitude of 3,250 meters above sea level and covers an area of 50 hectares.
We will then proceed to the town of Andahuaylillas. This traditional Andean town is home to a stunning chapel, famously known as “The Sistine Chapel of America”, constructed in the sixteenth century.
