Tour Description

DAY 1. ARRIVAL IN CUSCO.

Upon arriving in Cusco, you'll be transferred by a driver to your hotel situated in the historic heart of Cusco. Spend the remainder of the day at your leisure to acclimate to the high altitude. Overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 2. SACRED VALLEY/ AGUAS CALIENTES.

We'll collect you from your hotel in Cusco to embark on a tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After a 20.5-mile drive, we'll reach the quaint town of Pisac, renowned for its vibrant craft market and impressive Inca sites with stone constructions and breathtaking views of the valley, as well as the magnificent Inca terraces.

Following our exploration of Pisac’s market, the journey continues to Urubamba, where you'll savor traditional Peruvian cuisine at a riverside restaurant. This buffet lunch features regional delicacies, including alpaca and trout.

Next, we proceed to Ollantaytambo, located at an altitude of 2,792 meters. The Inca ruins here served as a military, religious, and agricultural hub, offering stunning vistas and over a hundred terraces with sophisticated irrigation systems.

Ascend the steps to reach the top of the Fortress and visit key locations such as the Temple Hill's ceremonial center. We will explore significant areas, including the Wall of the Six Monoliths, known as the Temple of the Sun.

At the scheduled time, take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes to visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World. After a 1.5-hour train ride, you'll arrive at Aguas Calientes, where our team will escort you to your hotel. A brief orientation about the next day's Machu Picchu tour will follow.

DAY 3. MACHU PICCHU / CUSCO.

Board the bus for a 30-minute ascent along the winding road to Machu Picchu, enjoying stunning vistas of the Urubamba River and canyon. Machu Picchu, translating to “Old Mountain,” will captivate you with its terraces, ceremonial sites, stairways, and urban zones. Feel the energy surrounding you.

After a 2.5-hour guided tour, enjoy free time to explore Machu Picchu independently, or opt to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountains (optional).

Alternatively, return to Aguas Calientes for lunch (optional), where you can find excellent restaurants serving delicious Peruvian dishes.

At the agreed time, board the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a tourist bus to Cusco, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel in the historic center.

DAY 4. CUSCO / PUNO.

Embark on a tourist bus from Cusco's bus station for a 1-hour journey to the stunning south valley, making our first stop in Andahuaylillas, at an altitude of 3,093 meters.

This charming Andean village boasts a seventeenth-century architectural gem, the Sistine Chapel, adorned with gold leaf and paintings from Cusco's art school.

Discover fascinating artwork inside the Church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, with Baroque-style ceilings and walls, many by Peruvian painter Luis de Reaño. A must-see on your travel list.

The journey continues for 1.5 hours to Raqchi, our second stop at 3,450 meters above sea level. Here, the temple of Wiracocha, built beside the Vilcanota River in the fifteenth century, features massive walls, aqueducts, and tombs.

Explore circular storehouses known as Colcas, which stored grains like quinoa, potato, and corn. Raqchi is part of the famous Inca Trail.

Proceeding to Sicuani, enjoy a buffet lunch in a local restaurant offering regional dishes, vegetables, desserts, and hot drinks like mate de coca.

After lunch, a 40-minute bus ride leads to La Raya Pass, the trip’s highest point at 4,335 meters, marking the border between Cusco and Puno. Pause to admire the snow-capped Chimboya and capture stunning landscapes.

Our final stop is the Museum of Pucara, over an hour from La Raya pass, showcasing monoliths, stone sculptures, and ceramics from the Pucara culture, which flourished in Peru and Bolivia's highlands.

End the day with a two-hour bus ride to Puno, traversing the Andes' heart, passing through Juliaca, and arriving at Puno’s bus station by 5:00 p.m.

Transfer to your hotel in Puno for an overnight stay.

DAY 5. UROS AND TAQUILE ISLANDS.

After breakfast at your Puno hotel, transfer to the lakeport to board a regular boat bound for the Uros floating islands.

Spend an unforgettable time with the locals, experiencing their lifestyle and traditions, with over 200 families residing here. The half-day tour at the Uros Islands concludes at this point.

Continue with a 1.5-hour boat ride to Taquile Island. Unlike other Aymara-speaking islands, Taquile is Quechua-speaking, with remnants of Inca culture visible in its structures.

As Lake Titicaca’s second-largest island, spanning 3.4 miles, Taquile is renowned for its textiles, recognized as a UNESCO heritage. Its highest point reaches 4,050 meters above sea level.

Enjoy a delightful Andean lunch before returning to Puno's port, where transport awaits to take you to your hotel.

DAY 6. SILLUSTANI AND TRANSFER OUT.

We'll collect you from your Puno hotel for a journey to the Sillustani archaeological site. This remarkable complex perches on a peninsula along Lake Umayo’s shores, 22.3 miles from Puno and Lake Titicaca.

Discover approximately 90 funerary towers constructed by the Kolla culture, an Aymara community predating the Inca Empire. Many towers housed mummies of prominent figures, such as priests and leaders, placed in fetal positions with possessions like gold, silver, and ceramics.

The Sillustani tour includes a visit to a local family who raises alpacas. They will share insights into their food preparation, lifestyle, looms, and preservation of ancestral customs.
